Lombok Airport to Kuta Mandalika: every option compared

Kuta Mandalika is the closest beach town to Lombok International Airport — about 23 km, and under 40 minutes on a good road. That short distance is why so many travellers get overcharged here: the trip is easy, but the arrivals hall is not.
How far is it, really
Lombok International Airport (airport code LOP) sits in Praya, in the middle of south Lombok. Kuta Mandalika is almost due south of it. The drive is roughly 23 kilometres on the Bypass Mandalika — a wide, modern road built for the MotoGP circuit — and takes 30 to 40 minutes in normal traffic.
You will not hit city traffic on this route. The delays that do happen are local: a market spilling onto the road in Sengkol, a ceremony procession, or rain. Add fifteen minutes in the wet season and you will rarely be wrong.

Prices above are per vehicle, not per person, except the bus. We have listed ride-hailing lower than the taxi counter because it usually is — but read the next section before you count on it.
The ride-hailing catch at LOP
Airport ride-hailing pick-up in Indonesia is negotiated between each airport and the apps, and it changes. At Lombok Airport, drivers are frequently not permitted to collect passengers directly at the arrivals kerb. What happens in practice is that your driver accepts the job, then messages you to meet them in the car park or on the access road outside the terminal.
That is a five to ten minute walk with luggage, at whatever hour your flight landed. It is entirely manageable at 10 in the morning with a cabin bag. It is a different experience at 1am with two suitcases, a surfboard and a tired child.
If you are arriving after dark or with a lot of luggage, this is the single biggest reason to arrange the car in advance.
What a fair price looks like
For a standard car carrying up to four passengers, anything between Rp 250,000 and Rp 350,000 for airport to Kuta Mandalika is a normal, fair price in 2026. Below that you are either in a shared vehicle or using an app at a quiet hour. Above Rp 400,000 you are paying a tourist premium.

Arriving late at night
A good number of international connections through Jakarta, Surabaya or Kuala Lumpur land at LOP between 10pm and 1am. At that hour the taxi counter may be closing, the ride-hailing queue thins out, and Kuta hotel receptions are usually unstaffed.
Two things make a late arrival painless: a driver who already knows your flight number and is waiting airside of the exit, and a hotel that has been told what time you will knock. Ask your hotel for the night entry procedure before you fly — most Kuta guesthouses will leave a key or a night guard, but only if they know.
Where exactly in Kuta are you going?
"Kuta Mandalika" covers a stretch of coast, not a single point. Tell your driver the actual area, because the last two kilometres differ a lot:
- Kuta town / Jalan Pariwisata — the main strip, restaurants and most guesthouses
- Mandalika circuit side — east, near the MotoGP track and the bigger resorts
- Seger and Tanjung Aan — 10–20 minutes further east, quieter, rougher access roads
- Mawun and Selong Belanak — 20–40 minutes west, separate bays, worth their own trip
A driver who knows the area will ask you this before you leave the airport. One who does not will ask you halfway there, which is how people end up at the wrong beach at midnight.
Honest advice
If you are travelling light, arriving in daylight, and comfortable using an Indonesian ride-hailing app, use the app. It is the cheapest sensible option and the walk is short.
If you are arriving at night, travelling with family, carrying boards or bulky bags, or simply do not want to negotiate anything after a long flight, book the car before you fly. The difference in money is small. The difference in how your first hour in Lombok feels is not.
